Dean Jones, ex-cricketer and commentator embroiled himself in a controversy in August 2006 for making a flippant remark against the ace South African cricketer Hashim Amla. Jones was heard saying “the terrorist gets another wicket” when Hashim Amla took a catch. The comment was made thinking that it’s a commercial break, but it went on to air live as the broadcast was still on. He was given the sack for denigrating the cricketer. However, he sincerely apologized later for his overly slanderous remark and asserted that he has immense respect for the Muslims and never meant to hurt their sentiments.
