Muttiah Muralitharan was born 17 April 1972 in Kandy,
the eldest of four sons to Sinnasamy Muttain and Lakshmi .When he was sent to
St Anthony college a private school run by Benedictine monks. He began his
cricketing profession as a medium bowler. After leaving school he joined Tamil
Union Cricket and Athletic club and was selected for the Sri Lanka a tour of
England in 1991.Muralitharam married Madhimalar Ramamurty, a Chennai girl on 21
March 2005.He was rated the greatest Test bowler ever by Wisden Cricketer’s
Almanach in 2002. He retired from Test cricket in 2010, enlisting his 800th
and last wicket on 22 July 2010.
