As per the Hindu calendar Bhadrapada month fortnight is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the God of fortune. This date is also famous for the Vinayak Chaturthi. In the folk tradition, the birth of Lord Ganesha is celebrated for the ten days. First clean the house and take a bath. A Clay image of the Lord Ganesha is installed in the raised platform. Pray to the Lord Ganesh and you can recite mantras or bhajans dedicated to the Lord Ganesha. Next step is to invoke the Ganesha into the image. This is known as the pran-prathishta. The Pran Prathista mantra in the Sanskrit to be invoked is found in the Rig Veda and is part of Ganesh Suktha.
