Dilip Balwant Vengsarkar, born on April 6, 1956 in Rajapur, India is a former Indian cricketer. Known by the nickname 'Colonel', Vengsarkar is currently the cricket administrator and an occasional commentator. He played for Bombay (now Mumbai Cricket team) before making his international debut for India. Being named as the one of the most ardent 'drive shot' player, Vengsarkar is listed among the best test batsman in the test history. He is honored with Arjuna award, Padma Shri award and was named as the Wisden cricketer of the year (1987). Besides being the Vice President for Mumbai Cricket Association, he also started in the Elf-Vengsarkar Academy. In 2006, he was approached as the Match Referee by BCCI. He currently owns 3 cricket academies to assist young players pursue their cricket dream. His wife name is Manali Vengsarkar.
